You can create a new account from two locations in Commander. The Home page displays a “Create Account” button when you first log
in, and the Accounts page also includes an “Add Account” button. When you click either button, an overlay form appears on top of
your current page.If you have a Sync subscription, Commander presents a choice between “Manual” and “Automatic” account creation. Select “Manual” to
create an account where you enter transactions by hand. Core subscription users proceed directly to the manual account form
without seeing this selection.
The create account form requires four pieces of information. First, enter a name for your account in the name field. Commander
allows up to 120 characters, though long names may appear truncated in some displays. The app prevents duplicate
account names and displays an error if you attempt to use a name that already exists.Next, select your account type from the dropdown menu. Choose “Depository” for checking or savings accounts, or “Credit” for credit
cards and lines of credit. Then set your account’s color using either
the hex code entry box or the color picker. The color defaults to gray if left unchanged. Finally, enter the initial account value. This field accepts positive, negative, or zero values and establishes your account’s
starting balance.
Click “Save” to create your account. Commander adds the account to your accounts list in alphabetical order and returns you to
the page where you opened the form. The account appears in your list and is ready to accept transactions. If you decide not to
create the account, close the form using the Cancel button, the X button, or by clicking away from the form.
